Byland with Wass Councillors
I was first elected to the Parish Council in 2004 and have been re-elected 5 times. Over the years I have taken a keen interest in planning, Dark Skies and biodiversity.
My work with the Warm Homes Project enabled us to buy the defibrillator and I continue to keep the village informed and safe by getting us all connected with the Wass Community Group and the new Emergency WhatsApp group.
I organise royal events such as the Coronation and during Covid suggested outdoor events such as VE Day and a Christmas Trail to bring the village together when we couldn’t meet.
Finally, on your behalf I attend meetings with other local parish councils for our mutual benefit.
Having moved to Wass in December 2015 , I became interested in participating in community matters. The first step was joining the Village Hall Committee as a trustee and subsequently as Secretary. This has provided me with the opportunity ,along with my colleagues , to develop the village hall facilities for the community and increase its use which we have been successful in doing and be more communicative and transparent with the community on the hall operational management . I took the opportunity to become a Parish Councillor in 2022 to capitalise on my community efforts and local engagement.
